Fruit seller jailed for peddling drugs
Manama : An Asian fruit seller was sentenced to six months of imprisonment and deportation after he was found guilty of drug peddling.
The man sold fruits in the morning and marijuana at night as mentioned in the files of the case.
He was caught red-handedly while selling BD100 worth of marijuana to an undercover police informer near a hotel in Manama last March. Further police investigations unveiled that the defendant reached Bahrain nine years back and has been illegally staying in the Kingdom for some time.
The Public Prosecution accused him of possessing and selling marijuana, in addition to illegal stay in the Kingdom. He was sentenced by the Third Higher Criminal Court to six months and 10 days of imprisonment, and deportation.
