PM briefed on housing, development projects

ManamaIn a bid to urgently meet the needs of villagers, especially in the northwestern parts of the Kingdom, Prime Minister His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa was briefed yesterday by various ministers about the progress achieved in development work and housing projects in Duraz, Jannusan and other villages in the Northern Governorate.

The briefing comes two days after the HRH Premier gave directives to six ministers to visit the villages to identify the needs of the residents, follow up on projects being implemented, and address shortcomings, if any, in providing facilities, roads, sanitation, health centres, youth centres, schools and housing projects.

The ministers who briefed HRH Premier included Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister, Health Minister, Education Minister, Labour and Social Development Minister and Youth and Sports Affairs Minister.

HRH Prime Minister also received Housing Minister Bassim bin Yaqoob Al Hamar and Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf at Gudiabiya Palace yesterday.

During the meeting, HRH Premier directed to increase the Duraz villagers’ share from the newly-constructed Northern City Housing Project, with the aim of absorbing their housing applications. The studies prepared by Housing Ministry to implement a new housing project in Duraz was also reviewed, and instructed to complete its technical requirements in coordination with the government entities.

He directed to take the aesthetic aspect while planning and designing the project.

HRH Premier stressed the need to give enough attention to green spaces and allocate special areas for gardens and cultivation. 

The ministers updated HRH Premier on the progress of the housing and service projects in Duraz, Jannusan, Sitra and the Northern City.

Subsequently, HRH Prime Minister stressed the need to implement all the projects aimed at enhancing the development and serving the citizens as per schedule, urging to complete the technical studies of projects to develop towns and villages and establish new cities to meet the needs of citizens. HRH Premier affirmed in the meeting that the government will spare no efforts to provide citizens quality services, including housing.

HRH Premier also followed up on steps taken so far to implement his directives to the Housing Ministry and Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry regarding a proposed site for a housing project in Duraz.
