Disabled kids to gain from new law: Minister

ManamaPreparations have been made to disburse the special allowances dedicated to citizens with disabilities so the disabled children of Bahraini women could benefit from them, following the recent amendments made by HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

This was announced by Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel Humaidan, two days after HM the King ratified and issued Law 22 of 2017, amending Article 2 of Law 74 2006 on the welfare, rehabilitation and employment of persons with disabilities.

The law stipulates that disabled children of Bahraini women should be treated equally as Bahraini citizens with disabilities, in terms of employment, social welfare, health and other aspects.

Minister Humaidan said in an announcement circulated yesterday that the Ministry has taken all measures to study the cases of persons with disabilities who are born to Bahraini women married to foreigners who are permanent residents in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The minister confirmed that the measures come as part of the preparations for the disbursement of the monthly disability allowance for all of its beneficiaries in accordance with Ministerial Resolution No. (24) for the year 2008.Humaidan hailed HM the King, Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and the Wife of HM the King and Supreme Council for Women Chairperson HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa for their generous care and support to citizens with disabilities.
