Bahrain’s Abdul Samad clinches first place

Manama : Bahrain Royal Endurance Team member Mohammed Abdul Samad achieved a first place finish in the Lignières Race in France. 

The top three riders in the 120km event were all from the Arabian Gulf region, with Bahrain’s Abdul Samad finishing the race in five hours 39 minutes, with an average speed of 21.9 km/ph. Oman’s Ali Taleb Al Farsi (5:50, 21.2km/ph) came in second place and Saudi Arabia’s Tariq Taher completed the podium in third after averaging 21.2 km/ph. 

Endurance Team member Raed Mahmoud also won first place in the same race for 84 km ranking of one star, with an average speed of 19.2 km/h. The Lignières race also witnessed the participation of Khalid Yusuf Khalaf who finished fifth and Hamad Janahi in ninth.

HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, expressed his pride in the Bahrain Royal Endurance Team members’ continued achievement of positive results during their participation in France.

Shaikh Nasser hailed the spirit of the team and the effort by its members in raising the Bahraini flag internationally in endurance events.

Team Manager, Dr Khalid Ahmed Hassan affirmed that the directives of HH Shaikh Nasser and his continuous follow-up paved the way for the team’s honourable results during participation in the French race, due to his experience in the sport. He also commended the efforts of everyone in the technical and administrative bodies who played an important role in these achievements through the hard work of preparing the Bahraini participants and equipping the horses to be on schedule during competition.
