Infrastructure projects unveiled

Manama : The Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning has completed 85 per cent of detailed designs to rehabilitate the Shaikh Hmood Al-Sabah Avenue.

It has also prepared a preliminary plan including the provision of a double avenue with two lanes in each direction to link the Al-Moaskar Askar Avenue to the Al-Hunainiya Avenue, and will begin preparing its detailed designs after receiving the approval of all competent sides, including the National Oil and Gas Authority, Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister, Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf, has revealed.

This came as he met the representative of the Southern Governorate’s fifth constituency at the Council of Representatives, MP Khalifa Al Ghanim, and discussed with him the constituency’s needs and the projects’ implementation there, ahead of his field visit.

Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry’s Undersecretary, Ahmed Al-Khayyat, Assistant Undersecretary for Roads, Huda Fakhro, Southern Governorate Municipality’s Director-General, Assim Abdullatif, and a number of officials were present.

Huda Fakhro gave a presentation about the roads and sanitation projects that had implemented recently and those to be implemented later.

She said that some roads in bloc 901 had been paved or subjected to maintenance work, adding that dust roads 107, 167 and 103 will be paved in the future.

Referring to the rehabilitation of the Hmood Al-Sabah Avenue, she said that the implementation of the project after the completion of all procedures and the provision of the needed
budget.
