Kuwait Amir in fresh bid to resolve Qatar crisis
Manama : Kuwait Amir has sent emissaries with messages to the leaders of Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain and Egypt in a new initiative to break the stalemate in the Qatar crisis.
Kuwait’s First Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Shaikh Sabah Al Khalid Al Hamad Al Sabah and State Minister for Cabinet Affairs and Acting Information Minister Shaikh Mohammad Al Abdullah on Monday visited Saudi Arabia and Egypt as envoys of Kuwaiti Amir Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah. They held a meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman and presented a written message from Shaikh Sabah on the latest regional and international developments and issues of common interest. Later in the evening, they held a meeting with Egyptian President Abdul Fattah Al Sissi and presented the Emir’s letter, the official KUNA reported yesterday.
Shaikh Sabah also delivered a letter to UAE President Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan on latest regional and international developments yesterday.
The message from the Amir of Kuwait was handed to UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, KUNA said. Shaikh Sabah and his colleague also met His Majesty Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa at Al-Safriya Palace.
Kuwait’s Emir is leading the mediation efforts in the crisis between Qatar and four Arab states.
