Seven arrested, terror cell dismantled
Manama : As part of counter-terrorism operations, the authorities have dismantled a 10-member terror cell and arrested seven of them for suspected involvement in terrorist acts led by 31-year-old Hussein Ali Ahmed Dawood, a top leader of Saraya Al Ashtar, the terror wing of Al Wafa Islamic Movement and a fugitive living in Iran.
The arrested are: Hassan Maki Abas Hassan, 27; Mahmood Mohammed Ali Mulla Salem Al Bahrani, 33; Zainab Maki Abas, 34; Ameen Habeeb Ali Jassim, 32; Hussain Mohammed Hussain Khamees, 39; Hassan Atiyah Mohammed Saleh, 37; and Hussain Ibrahim Mohammed Hassan Dhaif, 27.
Investigation is in progress to arrest two more members of the terror cell. They are: Sayed Hadi Hassan Majeed Radhi, 26; and Sadiq Mohammed Abdulrasool Darweesh, 25, both drivers
The arrested have close links with Ahmed Dawood, whose nationality was revoked and is sentenced to life imprisonment in three terror cases. The authorities have also seized large quantities of explosives from residential areas of Demistan, Karzakan, Malkiya and Dar Kulaib villages that were used as workshops to make bombs and store materials for the purpose, authorities said. 127kg of high-grade explosives and bomb-making materials were seized from these villages, including more than 24kg of C4, TATP and nitro cellulose, in addition to chemicals and ready-to-use bombs, automatic and other homemade weapons, electric detonators, grenades and ammunition, the authorities said. The case has been referred to the Public Prosecutor after the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation & Forensic Science carried out the legal proceedings.
