LMRA plans strict action against illegal employment

ManamaThe authorities have pledged to clampdown on illegal employment, which has been raising concerns among citizens and residents in the past few years.

Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) announced in a recent statement that it conducted several meetings with different law enforcement authorities to eradicate the practice, which has become a phenomenon in the country.

“The authority conducted a meeting with several officials on Monday to address the phenomenon of street vendors and measures to combat irregular employment,” LMRA’s statement mentioned.

The authority confirmed that the meeting was attended by representatives of the Nationality, Passport and Residence Affairs in Interior Ministry, police directorates of all four governorates in the Kingdom and heads of the inspection departments in LMRA.

As a result of the meeting, the officials announced that the inspection campaigns will be intensified to solve the issue of illegal employment and street vendors.

The meeting also discussed the recently-introduced flexible work permits, which is part of the innovative solutions to the irregular employment issue, the authority added in its statement.
