Bahrain's Batirov bows out
Manama : Bahrain’s Adam Batirov bowed out in the quarter finals of the 65kg freestyle category in the United World Wrestling Championship after losing out to Alan Gogaev of Russia 2-1 by a refereeing decision in the quarter finals in Paris yesterday.
Batirov had earlier won his qualifier 10-0 against China’s Jianglin Gui and then in the Round of 16 knocked out Zain Allen Retherford of United States 6-4.
“We commend the great level presented by Batirov in three bouts. The decision of the referees denied him a chance of a bronze medal but it was a creditable result overall,” said Colonel Khalid Abdulaziz Al Khayat of BMMAF.
