SCW design contest to mark Women’s Day
Manama : The Supreme Council for Women (SCW) is organising, in cooperation with the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), a design competition for a monument embodying Bahraini women’s social contribution and advancement march. The contest is launched to mark the Bahraini Women’s Day 2017, themed “Women in the Engineering Field.”
Students from various engineering streams will participate in the contest, the organisers said during an introductory meeting held at the Bahrain National Museum. The winning design for the memorial will be implemented on the ground to celebrate Bahraini women’s achievements and creative contributions.
Participation in this competition will be open for Bahraini students in the third year after graduation, and for postgraduate students at engineering colleges in architecture, civil, mechanical, electrical, landscaping and urban planning.
Participants, not exceeding 30 years, shall fill in an e-form and provide the identification documents.
Participating teams shall be Bahraini nationals, and comprise 3 to 5 members from the engineering disciplines, and others from designing and art. They should also be residing in Bahrain from September to December, 2017, to attend the workshops and lectures to be held as part of the contest, as well as personal interviews.
The designs should provide the best conception of Bahraini women’s achievements, and highlight the urban architectural development in the Kingdom. The winning design should also take into account the specificity of the proposed site of the memorial, and be based on an idea that reaches all age categories, and easy to implement.
