Youth City boosts national goals: Minister
Manama : ‘Youth City 2030’ is an embodiment of the efforts of the wise leadership and their belief in the importance of ambitious young people and their achieving national goals, said Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr Abdulhussain Mirza yesterday.
The minister was speaking during a visit to Youth City 2030 organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in cooperation with Tamkeen at the Bahrain International Exhibition Center.
Youth City 2030 is held annually under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports.
An award for best innovation was also presented on the occasion. Winning project envisaged using solar powered batteries in a device capable of preserving medicines and allowing users to take medicines based on dosages and time intervals.
Presenting certifiactes and awards to the winning group, the minister thanked the leadership’s keen interest in sustainable development projects and continuous directives to achieve international commitments in terms of energy efficiency and renewable energy.
In this regard, the minister highlighted the role played by Sustainable Energy Unit to encourage innovations and create young Bahraini cadres in the fields of renewable energy. Sustainable Energy Unit head Jehan Al-Murbati was present on the occasion.
“The project contributes to highlighting the objectives of sustainable development,” said United Nations Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative Amin Al-Sharqawi and Sustainable Energy Unit head Jehan Al-Murbati, who accompanied the minister during the visit.
Dr Mirza thanked the organisers, headed by Hisham Bin Mohammed Al Jowder and Assistant Undersecretary for Youth Development at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Iman Janahi.
