Market supplies sufficient for Eid
Manama : Bahrain has imported 55,000 tons of fruit and vegetables to meet the soaring demand during the Eid Al-Adha, which falls on September 1.
Undersecretary for Agriculture and Marine Resources Shaikh Khalifa bin Isa Al-Khalifa said that all facilities had been provided for importers to supply the local market, avert any shortage and maintain price stability.
He also said that more than 80 companies supply the local market with fruits and vegetables from 70 countries.
Citing updates figures, he said that the domestic agricultural products yielded by more than 900 farms have covered 25% of the local needs as part of a four-year-strategy to boost Bahrain’s agricultural output.
