BD20,000 in cash prizes up for grabs at Futsal League

Manama : Cash prizes totalling BD20,000 are up for grabs at this year’s Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League for Youth Centres, People with Disabilities and Girls, it was announced yesterday. 

The decision regarding this was made by His Highness, Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and Honorary President of Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities. The organising committee of the league announced this during a press conference held at the Khalifa Sports City in Isa Town. 

Shaikh Khalid instructed the organising committee of the League to include a total of BD20,000 in cash prizes divided among the first three winning teams and players of the match in each of the league matches in the various categories, in addition to a brand new car that will be awarded to a lucky spectator in the final match of the league.

As per the decision, first place winners of the youth centres and unregistered clubs tournament will be awarded with trophies, gold medals and BD4,000 in cash, while the second and third place winners will receive cash prizes of BD2,000 and BD1,500, respectively. 

The first three winners of the people with disabilities and the girls’ tournament each will receive BD1,000, BD700 and BD500, respectively. 

Announcing the decision, Omar Abdulaziz Bukamal, Head of the Media Office of Shaikh Khalid and Member of the Supreme Organising Committee, also said that a brand new car will be awarded to one of the lucky spectators during the final match of Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League on 14 September.

This is in addition to the BD100 cash prize given to the best player in each game held since the beginning of the league and the weekly prize of BD50 awarded on Instagram.

Bukamal also said more than 50 prominent personalities in the sports, political, commercial and other fields have visited Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League during the past month.

He expressed his appreciation to Shaikh Khalid for patronising the league and granting the youth of the Kingdom the opportunity to improve their talents and skills and meet and compete in a friendly atmosphere. He also thanked the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs, spearheaded by Minister Hisham Al Jowder.

The Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League is jointly organised for the fifth consecutive year by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs and the Media Office of Shaikh Khalid under the slogan #Generations_Meeting and comes as part of the initiative of His Highness. 

Launched on 24 July, the league continues to 14 September and includes three different tournaments and 59 teams that represent youth centres, local unregistered clubs, people with disabilities and girls’ teams for the first time this year.

It was also announced that 131 matches have taken place since the launch of the league and 16 matches are remaining in the final rounds of the league. A total of 866 goals have been scored, and 176 yellow cards and 28 red cards issued to players so far.

Director of Youth Centres at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs Nawar Al Mutawwa hailed the humanitarian and sports initiatives of Shaikh Khalid and said they reflect the directives of the wise leadership to embrace the youth in the frame of love, unity and honest competition.

He affirmed in the conference that the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs, headed by Al Jowder, is keen on supporting such events that aim at empowering the youth and developing their talents and skills.
