BTF Summer camp concludes

Manama : Bahrain Tennis Federation (BTF) has concluded its month-long tennis talent summer camp during August at its premises at the University of Bahrain Polytechnic in Isa Town.

A total of 25 young players, both boys and girls aged from five to 10 years of age participated at the camp, under the eye of former national team player and technical director, Essam Abdul A’al, who noted that a training project will follow this camp until the end of year 2017.

He said that the best players in each category will be identified for further training towards the future of the national team process.

BTF general-secretary Fuad Al Rowaei said that the camp is a part of the BTF strategy and planning to encourage this group to practice tennis and its plans and programmes of the International Tennis Federation for the development of tennis in the West Asia region, which is supported by providing rackets and balls and nets, under the JTI programme (Junior Tennis Initiative) and tennis tenth programme, with great attention giving to this category.

The BTF and Bahrain  Olympic Committee, support and provide the necessary possibilities to develop the junior categories, Al Rowaie stressed that the technical committee is working now on the development plans and programmes for  next year and coordination with clubs and organisations to promote a general tennis league championship and increase the number of participating clubs. 

BTF’s women’s Committee has also made a big effort to give women and girls teams more attention for next season as it prepares to hold the Bahrain Ladies Open Championship in November and expected to see a good number of participants.

After the summer camp, Al Rowaie and national teams’ director Mohammed Ali, presented gold medals with the camp logo to all participants, with the parents of the participants expressing appreciation of the BTF board members for its efforts in organising the camp.
