Call to recruit sacked Qatar Airways staff
Manama : A lawmaker has called upon the authorities to recruit the sacked Bahraini employees of Qatar Airways, considering them as a national asset that “shouldn’t be wasted”.
MP Osama Al Khaja said in a statement that Labour and Social Development, Transportation and Telecommunications Ministries and the National Carrier Gulf Air to find immediate solutions for the 27 Bahraini employees of the Qatari national carrier who were discharged of their duties recently.
Al Khaja said that "the employees shouldn’t be involved in the current Qatar political crisis as these employees have heavy obligations and responsibilities”. He demanded the authorities to look into the situation of the sacked employees and recruit them in suitable positions that will benefit the Kingdom and meet their aspirations. Al Khaja said that an urgent national plan should be put in place to reinstate the staff in public and the private sectors here”, adding that aviation firms should benefit from the expertise of these employees”, in a reference to Gulf Air.
