Arabian Cricket Carnival begins in Bahrain
Manama : The long awaited Arabian Cricket Carnival (ACC) T-20 2017, organised by Bahrain Cricket Center (BCC) and KHK MMA Bahrain, commences today at the Bahrain National Stadium, Isa Town.
A meet and greet session with celebrities from India and a press conference was arranged on sidelines of the carnival at the Ramee Grand, Seef. The session gave fans a huge opportunity to meet their favourite stars and interact with them.
The carnival is being held under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth & Sport First Vice Chairman and Bahrain Royal Equestrian & Endurance Federation President HH Shaikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa with the collaboration of Z Events and Entertainment (ZEE) and Global Herald Sports Event Ltd. (GHSE).
The event is expected to encourage sports tourism and attract regional as well as international community to visit the kingdom and boost its tourism and hospitality sectors.
CEO of KHK MMA Mohammed Shahid said that HH Shaikh Khalid, who started off with MMA, wants to launch more such sporting events in the kingdom.
“We are now focusing on developing cricket in the island as many people have shown great enthusiasm towards the sport,” he told DT News.
He added that the association also has plans to launch a boxing event after the carnival.
KHK MMA is also planning to launch a federation that will help to promote cricket and provide a platform for young talented players who are looking to achieve their passion.
Aref Sadeq one of the organisers of the Arabian Cricket Carnival told DT News, “It is a great honour to host celebrities in the nation and initiate this sport and take it to greater heights in the Kingdom.”
Teams of 12 players from around the GCC will come together to play against each other during the carnival. To add spirit to the competition, teams are allowed to include four international players.
Teams participating in the carnival are Bahrain Brave Hearts, Kuwait Crusaders, Oman Avengers, Dubai Destroyers, Emirates Hurricane and Saudi Arab Rangers.
The event will conclude on October 6.
