Police arrest Bahraini driver for reckless driving

Manama : A  Bahraini man, whose alleged reckless driving led to the horrific death of three other citizens near Aali on Monday, was arrested.

“The accident caused the death of three people and damages to the property of others,” said Traffic Prosecution President and Consultant Attorney Hussain Al Buali.

The mishap occurred on the Khalifa Bin Salman Highway near Aali on the dawn of Monday. Sadiq Al Sabba’a, Hassan Al Sayyad and Adel Faraj are the deceased.

Sources told DT News that the accident occurred when one of the victims was standing near his pickup truck with two others following a minor accident involving them. The suspect, at that time, unknowingly, rammed his vehicle into them, killing them instantly.

“The prosecution has initiated its investigations and interrogated the suspect,” Al Buali said.

The suspect, Al Buali said, will be referred to the concerned court on October 3. He is accused of unintentional murder, causing damages to public and private properties and other related traffic offences.

The incident also resulted in diverting the traffic on the busy highway to the nearby Shaikh Isa bin Salman Highway.

Head of Traffic Accidents and Violations at the General Directorate of Traffic, Major  Ahmed Saad Al Saadi attributed the accident to “wrong traffic
practices”.

The official said that the practice of inspecting accident sites by staying in the middle of the road or slowing down to see an accident may lead to death and serious injuries.

Urging all to stop such ‘wrong practices, Al Saadi said that all those involved in such traffic accidents should stop their cars in secure areas, away from the road, and then go to the nearest traffic accident office.
