Bahrain ready for motor biking season

ManamaWheels of Arabia organised its annual track event, Ducati Regional Track Experience (DRTE) last Friday at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir.

The DRTE started as an idea of gathering motorcycle dealers and owners in Bahrain to experience motorcycle riding on track and get trained by professional riding instructors from Ducati Italy.

Following last year’s success, this year’s event was bigger and better, with over 50 participants attending.

‘’We take pride in the fact that we are contributing to this continuous process of learning and the more you learn the safer it gets. Our endeavour is to provide a world-class training haven for motor bikers using the great facility provided by BIC. It’s a real privilege and honour to have Dario Marchetti come and train our participants this year too,” says Abdulrahman Almoayed, the Director of Wheels of Arabia.

Italian Marchetti is chief instructor of the Ducati Riding Experience (DRE) and his honours include four national titles, the 2001 Italian Endurance Championship on a Ducati 996R, the 2004 Battle of the Twins race at Daytona aboard a 748, and the European Endurance Championship later that year on a 998 and 999R.

Along with the DRTE, Wheels of Arabia also kicked off the DESMO club; a Ducati owners motor biking club in Bahrain and aims to facilitate motor biking rides, idea/technique- exchange and a community feel among the Ducati owners, promoting safety and awareness.

Wheels of Arabia also launched the Ducati Experience Centre at the BIC, which was inaugurated by BIC Chief Executive Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa and is intended to aid and augment the skills of riders and develop young talent.

“We are extremely delighted to be opening the Ducati Experience Centre, in cooperation with Wheels of Arabia at BIC,” said Shaikh Salman.

“It is a wonderful addition to all that we have to offer and look forward to seeing its impact on the continuous development of the motorsport culture here in the Kingdom of Bahrain and invite everyone interested in the sport to take advantage of this valuable new facility.”
