‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign celebrated in Bahrain
Manama : The Indian Embassy here celebrated the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign, marking the third anniversary of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a cleanliness initiative launched by the Indian government.
The celebrations, held at the India House, Saar, on Friday, was attended by dignitaries from the Indian community.
Indian Ambassador to Bahrain Alok Kumar Sinha addressed the audience. Sunil Shetty, well-known Indian actor, was the chief guest.
The celebration comes ahead of the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2, which this year is being celebrated as the ‘Swachh Bharat Divas’.
“I would like to thank all the people who are present here and further events like these are a clear reflection of the ties between the two nations. We look forward to more collaborations to strengthen the ties between the two nations,” said Sinha.
“It is an honour to be a part of the Arabian Cricket Festival in Bahrain and the Gandhi Jayanti and ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ celebration in the Kingdom. We are looking forward to promoting the Mission Bahrain initiative,” said Shetty.
