Allowing women to drive a historic step: Ambassador

Manama :  The Royal order allowing Saudi women to drive is a historic step in the socio-economic reforms being carried out as per the Kingdom’s vision 2030 plan, Saudi Ambassador to Bahrain Dr. Abdullah Abdul Malik Al-Shaikh has said.

According to the vision 2030, Saudi women would enjoy full rights in line with the religious regulations that preserve the country’s inherent customs and traditions.

The Saudi ambassador described the decision allowing Saudi women to drive cars reflects the leadership’s keenness to achieve the aspirations of the community and cater to social and economic needs by boosting women’s participation in the labour market and their contribution to social and economic development.

He added that Saudi Arabia is undergoing a reform process at all levels according to 2030 vision, which aims to develop all aspects of life and promote women’s role in the development march.
