Kuwait Crusaders end losing streak

Manama : Kuwait Crusadrers ended its three-match losing streak with a five-wicket victory over Oman Avengers yesterday on the sixth day of action in the Arabian Cricket Carnival T20 2017 at the Bahrain National Stadium in Riffa.

Batting first, Oman Avengers were dismissed for 150 in 17.4 overs with Tamoor Mirza (50) top scoring, while Rubal, Vasu, Aran and Sood all picked up a couple of wickets each.

In reply, Kuwait Crusaders reached the target in scoring 153 for five in 12.3 overs with Tahir Khan (41) top scoring to ensure victory despite the efforts of V P Verma who captured three wickets.

In another match, Dubai Destroyers defeated Bahrain Brave Hearts by 73 runs as they managed 162 for three in 20 overs with Salman Afzal and Nimsy picking up a wicket apiece, Bahrain Brave Hearts were then bowled out for just 89 in 14.2 overs thanks to a fine bowling effort by Narendra who picked up four wickets.

The event is organised by Bahrain Cricket Center and KHK MMA Bahrain under the patronage of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and Honorary President of the Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities.

Six teams of 12 players from the GCC are competing in a round-robin format with four international players per team allowed.

The tournament started last Wednesday and concludes this Friday with the final starting at 5pm.

Four teams will qualify for the semi-final round with the first on Thursday at 5pm, followed with the second semi-final on Friday at 1pm, followed by the final at 5pm.

For the remainder of the tournament, two matches will be played daily from today until Friday starting at 1pm and 5pm.
