Rangers outshine Crusaders

Manama : Saudi Arab Rangers defeated Kuwait Crusaders by 15 runs yesterday as both sides completed their round-robin matches in the 13th match of the Arabian Cricket Carnival T20 2017 at the Bahrain National Stadium in Riffa.

Batting first, Saudi Arab Rangers made 143 for eight in its 20 overs, with the top scorers being Danza Hyatt (31), Dilkant and Ayush (25) each, with Tewatia and Upadhyay picking up a couple of wickets each.

In reply, Kuwait Crusaders fell short of the target after being dismissed for 128 in 19.3 overs with Tahir (29) and Upadhyay (23) top scoring with Khawar Ali and Yasir claiming two wickets each.

In the 14th match, Oman Avengers crushed Bahrain Brave Hearts by 132 runs for its first win in the tournament after notching up a massive 233 for six in 20 overs, with Rajat Choudhary (62) top scoring and Pedro, Salman, Sandeep, Farman, Tajinder and Kareem all picking up a wicket apiece.

Bahrain Brave Hearts in reply fell well short after being dismissed for 101 in 11.2 overs with the main resistance from S S Singh (33), while Aman Singh took four wickets.  

League leaders Dubai Destroyers with four wins from four take on Oman Avengers at 1pm today, who despite only one win from four, could qualify if they win or qualify through a better run rate than Kuwait Crusaders or Bahrain Brave Hearts.

Today the first semi-final is scheduled for 5pm and already qualified for that stage are Dubai Destroyers, Saudi Arab Rangers and Emirates Hurricane.

The event is organised by Bahrain Cricket Centre and KHK MMA Bahrain under the patronage of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and Honorary President of the Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities.

Six teams of 12 players from the GCC have been competing in a round-robin format (which concludes today) with four international players per team allowed.

The tournament started last Wednesday and concludes tomorrow with the final starting at 5pm, preceded by the second semi-final at 1pm.

Tickets are available at the National Stadium all day from 12.30pm to 9pm and are priced at BD1, BD2, BD5, BD15 and BD30.

Standings (played-won-lost): Dubai Destroyers (4-4-0), Saudi Arab Rangers (5-4-1), Emirates Hurricane (5-3-2), Bahrain Brave Hearts (5-1-4), Kuwait Crusaders (5-1-4), Oman Avengers (4-1-3).

Remaining schedule: Today (1pm): Dubai Destroyers vs Oman Avengers. (5pm): Semi-final 1. Friday (1pm): Semi-final 2. (5pm): Final.
