Bahrain announces team for weightlifting championship
Manama : Bahrain’s Weightlifting Committee have approved the squads including new team members to represent the kingdom in the West Asian Junior Weightlifting Championships for youth male and female participants to be held in Amman, Jordan from October 24 to 28.
Preparations are continuing and for the women’s team, Zainab Ali and Noha Mohammed have been selected for the first time from a talent programme and are joined by Zahra Mahfouz, Latifa Mohammed and Mariam Sharif and are led by coach Amira Ibrahim Ali.
The men’s team is led by international coach Redha Youssef and four will compete with Hamad Ayyash and Salman Jassim in the heavyweight division, with Hussein Maatoouq in the medium weight division and Salman Nubian in the lightweight division.
Nubian recently won three silver medals in the recent GCC Championship held in Bahrain and the delegation will be headed by member of the board of directors, Khalid Al Jowder and includes director of weightlifting teams Ali Abdullah.
