‘Bahrain, Chechen pioneers in MMA’
Manama : HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa yesterday crowned the winners of the Chechen International Mixed Martial Arts Championship alongside President of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Akhmadovich Kadyrov. President of the Chechen Republic crowned the runners-up.
Addressing the closing ceremony of the championship, Shaikh Nasser, the Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, expressed his pride in the ability and competitiveness of the Chechen MMA athletes.
“MMA is progressing steadily in Chechnya,” said Shaikh Nasser adding: “The sport is also flourishing in Bahrain, thanks to the high patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.”
He also highlighted Bahrain’s exemplary experience in the sport and stressed the importance of sharing experiences to boost its development in both the countries.
HH Shaikh Nasser commended the championship’s committees for boosting the potential of the Chechen’s cadres and for their ability in hosting various competitions.
Shaikh Nasser wished the Chechen youth and sports movement more progress and prosperity.
Separately, Shaikh Nasser toured the Aymani Kadyrova Mosque named after the mother of the Chechen Republic President Ramzan Akhmadovich Kadyrov.
Shaikh Nasser hailed the Mosque as a stunning Islamic architectural edifice and praised its design inspired by the Islamic heritage.
