Dubai Destroyers lift T20 trophy

ManamaDubai Destroyers won all seven of its matches to defeat Emirates Hurricane by 48 runs in the final to win the first-ever Arabian Cricket Carnival T20 2017 ten-day event which concluded last night at the Bahrain National Stadium in Riffa.

Batting first, Dubai Destroyers scored 169 for five in its 20 overs with Kolsawala (62) being the main scorer, while Sushi Khatri with three wickets was the best of the Emirates Hurricane bowlers.

In reply, Emirates Hurricane finished well short of the target and could only manage 121 for nine in 20 overs, with Kapil Yadav (46) top scoring and Abdullah Azhar picking up three wickets.

Earlier in the second semi-final, Dubai Destroyers booked its place in the final after a comfortable six-wicket victory over Oman Avengers.

Batting first, Oman Avengers posted a decent score of 175 for seven in 20 overs with Raja Shakeel (46) top scoring and Narendra Kumar picking up four wickets for Dubai Destroyers.

Dubai Destroyers reached the target and final in scoring 177 for four in 19 overs thanks to fine knocks by Haseeb Amjad (66) and Usman Saeed (48) with Rajesh Kumar claiming three wickets for Oman Avengers.

The event was organised by Bahrain Cricket Centre and KHK MMA Bahrain under the patronage of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and Honorary President of the Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities, who attended the final match.

Around 3,000 cricket enthusiasts were in attendance to witness the final, along with ambassadors and diplomats from the countries of the participating players, a star-studded cast of Bollywood stars and representatives of the supporting companies.

Six teams of 12 players from the GCC had competing in a round-robin format with four international players per team allowed, with the top four advancing through to the knockout stage with the semi-finals, followed by yesterday’s final.
