Zallaq Youth Centre to perform ‘The Banner’
Manama : Majida Sultan, renowned Bahraini actress affirmed that the third edition of the Khalid Bin Hamad Theatres Festival For National Clubs, Youth Centres and People With Disability reflects the keenness of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa in developing local talents and empowering Bahraini youth.
The third show in the festival will be performed by Zallaq Youth Centre on Saturday and is titled “The Banner”. It is directed by Ismail Murad and will be judged by veteran Bahraini director and superstar Jamaan Al-Rowaiee.
Sultan’s statements came during her visit to the festival at Muharraq Model Youth Centre in Busaiteen on Thursday.
The actress said the festival serves several noble goals set by Shaikh Khalid, the First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Athletics Association and Honourary President of the Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation, in improving and developing the Bahraini cultural and artistic fields.
She attended the first play in the festival, “We Haven’t Started” performed by Tubli Cultural and Sports Club.
The festival organised for the third consecutive year by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs and the Media Office of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa will conclude on October 21.
This year’s edition is themed #Let’s_Plant_A_Smile and aims at empowering the youth in the fields of cultural and humanitarian works.
Local youth centres and clubs will perform 12 plays during the 18-day long festival, which will also include three additional shows that will be held on the sidelines of the main shows.
As for the first play, the audience was pleased to attend the exciting and purposeful performance of Tubli Cultural and Sports Club team. Directed by Jassim Tallaq, the play was inspired by Max Rene and shed light on the injustice in the work field. The Jury of the festival nominated Bahraini actor Sadiq Abdul-Redha as the best actor in the play.
Nermeen Al-Hooty, the Kuwaiti Critic, made some comments about the play, which she said didn’t match the script submitted by the team to the Jury ahead of the festival.
