ISB to set up Special Education Centre

Manama : The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) is planning to set up a Special Education Centre for educating students with special educational needs in a way that addresses their individual differences and needs.

This was announced by ISB Chairman Prince S Natarajan at a press conference held in connection with the ISB Mega Fair 2017 which will be conducted on October 12 and 13.

The Special Education Centre for differently abled children is set up as part of the school’s social responsibility. This process is in the final phase of the examination of the ministry of education for approval.

The Indian School is shouldering the responsibility of helping   autistic children who deserve equal access to education and healthcare, he said.

The centre will have individually planned and systematically monitored arrangement of teaching procedures, adapted equipment and materials, and accessible settings.

The ISB depends on school fees which is the only revenue for developmental activities. We have used the revenue from the last years fair to overcome financial crises. The income from the last years fair was over BD160000.

The school committee has been able to generate funds for helping the needy students in cooperation with teachers, students and parents who have trust in the present committee.

The main attractions of the this years Fair are the musical programmes led by Indian playback singer Nakash Aziz on October 12 and popular singers Srinivas, Jyotsna and Vishnu Raj on October 13.

“The funds generated from the Fair will be utilized for providing fee concessions for the economically underprivileged students, welfare activities for the staff and to enhance the resources of the school, said ISB Chairman Prince S Natarajan.

“The Indian School has one of the lowest fee structures in the Gulf and it runs on fees collected from the students and the charity of community members who sponsor the education of the needy and financially weaker children.”

This year we expect the footfall to be massive and we have separate teams working towards the logistics and the technicalities so as to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the fair.

The first prizewinner of the Mega Raffle Draw to be held on October 13, will take home a Zayani Motors sponsored Mitsubishi car.  Entry fee for the Mega Fair will be BD2.

ISB Chairman Prince S Natarajan, Secretary Dr  Shemily P John , Vice Chairman Muhammed Iqbal, EC Member Jayafar Maidani, EC Member Saji Antony, EC Member Bhupinder Singh, Principal VR Palaniswamy, Riffa Campus Principal Sudhir Krishnan, Staff Representative Priya Laji  and Fair Committee General Convener Muhammed Malim attended the press conference.
