‘Wishes of Amina’ earns accolades in Theatre Festival
Manama : Several superstars watched “Wishes of Amina”, the play staged by Hamad Town Youth Centre at the Khalid Bin Hamad Theatre Festival yesterday, prominent among them was the Kuwaiti Superstar Tariq Al-Ali.
Al-Ali expressed his admiration for the sparkling performance of the actors and the improvement the festival attained in its third edition this year.
He hailed the efforts of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Athletics Association and Honourary President of the Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation and his patronage and support to the youth, wishing the organisers and all the participants’ success.
The play was also watched by Bahraini television star Shaima Sabt, who lauded HH, the organisers and the participating local youth clubs and centres for being part of such a successful regional event.
She asserted that the vision of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa would contribute into creating a new Bahraini generation of artists who would represent the Bahraini arts and cultural movement regionally and internationally in future.
The play received good response from the audience. It was directed by Abdulla Al-Darzi and included rising Bahraini talents such as Al-Bassam Ahmed, Mariam Hassan and Zakariya Al-Shaikh.

Khalid Bin Hamad Theatres Festival for National Clubs, Youth Centres and People with Disability is organised on the stage of Muharraq Model Youth Centre in Busaiteen.
It was launched on Wednesday by Hisham bin Mohammed Al-Jowder, on behalf of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa and will continue to the 21st of the month.
It is organised for the third consecutive year by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs and the Media Office of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa under the patronage of HH.
It is annually held as part of Khalid Bin Hamad Al-Khalifa Initiatives to support the youth of the Kingdom of Bahrain and engage them with different events and activities.
This year’s edition is themed ‘Let’s_Plant_A_Smile’ and aims at empowering the youth in the fields of arts, cultural and humanitarian works. 12 plays are scheduled to be performed by local youth centres and clubs during the 18 -day long festival, which will also include three additional shows that will be held on the side-lines of the main shows.
