Calls for reinventing FTA negotiation techniques
Manama : The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, Aref S. Khamis, inaugurated a training course on “Developing Negotiation Capacities in Free Trade Agreements”, organised by the Ministry in co-operation with the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) and the World Trade Organization (WTO) yesterday.
He called for reinventing negotiation techniques with regard to free trade areas, both on national and regional levels. He also emphasized the need to establish best practices in this respect and create a solid base of competent Arab skills in multilateral trade negotiations.
The undersecretary commended the nature of the course, which combines both theoretical and practical sessions. Among the main topics of discussion are trade negotiations strategies and rounds, along with virtual negotiations pursued by the participants in sectors such as agriculture, industry and services 31 participants from Bahrain and 13 Arab countries participated in the course.
