ManamaThe criteria of next edition of Shaikh Isa bin Rashid Al Khalifa Award for Voluntary Work, due to launch in April 2018, was discussed by a purpose-formed committee in Seef.

Abdulrahman Askar, general secretary of the award ceremony organisers – the Bahrain Olympic Committee – chaired the Advisory Committee first meeting to set up the initial ideas and conditions for the coming edition of the award.

The committee includes representatives of sports desks at local Arabic Newspapers – Majed Al Aradi, Mohammed Lori, Abbas Al A’ali, Majed Sultan, Salman Al Haiki, Aqeel Al Sayed and Ahmed Kareem.

This award is named after Shaikh Isa bin Rashid Al Khalifa, second vice-chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, and BOC honorary president, who is known as one of the founders of the sports movement nationally, regionally and continentally.

Last year’s edition of the award was staged at the Sofitel Hotel in Zallaq, where 76 sports personnel were honoured in appreciation to their contributions to sports in their respective posts.

The award is patronized by Representative of His Majesty for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
