Bahraini student who fell to death laid to rest
Manama : The body of the Bahraini female student who accidentally fell to death from the top floor of a building in Nanjing City in China two weeks ago was laid to rest at Jidhafs Town here yesterday.
Batool Al Saleh, 24, was buried in Al Imam Graveyard in Jidhafs Town in the Capital Governorate at around 3 pm yesterday.
Scores of relatives, family friends and residents of Jidhafs attended the funeral.
On October 2, Al Saleh reportedly fell from the top floors of a residential building in Nanjing, where she studied medicine along with other Bahraini students.
Foreign Affairs Ministry Assistant Undersecretary for Human and Financial Resources and Information Technology, Ambassador Khalil Yaqoob Al Khayat, said that the Bahraini Embassy in the People’s Republic of China contacted university officials and local authorities in Nanjing immediately after it received the news of the death of the Bahraini student in Beijing.
The official affirmed that the embassy urgently sent a representative to the city in east China, which is about two hours from the capital, Beijing, to inspect the situation and meet the security authorities”, adding that the embassy had coordinated with the Chinese authorities to facilitate the travelling of the deceased’s family to China and the repatriation of her body to Bahrain. Family members weren’t available for a comment.
