“Refuge” tackles conflicts in society
Manama : “Refuge” a play directed by Bahraini Female Director Ohood Sabt was staged yesterday at the third edition of Khalid Bin Hamad Theatres Festival For National Clubs, Youth Centres and People With Disability.
Performed by Shakhoora Youth Centre at Muharraq Model Youth Centre in Busaiteen, the plot of play revolved around the contradictions in the society and love for the homeland.
Iman Sabt received the award for best actor in the play. The jury also honoured Bahraini Actor and Critic Jamal Al-Saqr.
Renowned Bahraini Actor Yusuf Buhallool commended the performance of the participating teams and underlined the noble goals set by HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and Honorary President of Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities, to support Bahraini youth.
The second play to be held on the sidelines of the festival will be performed on Monday by Al-Wusta Youth Centre and is titled “First Degree Retiree”
The festival is held annually as part of Khalid Bin Hamad Al-Khalifa Initiatives to support Bahraini youth and engage them in different events and activities.
This year’s edition is themed #Let’s_Plant_A_Smile and aims to empower the youth of Bahrain in the fields of arts, culture and humanitarian works. The 18-day festival was launched on October 4 by Hisham Al-Jowder, the Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs.
Sama Deerty backs theatre fest
Sama Deerty Company yesterday announced its backing to the Khalid Bin Hamad Theatres Festival as its bronze sponsors.
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa welcomed the bronze sponsorship of Sama Deerty Company affirming that it will add to the success of the festival.
Saleh Ka’awat, General Manager of Sama Deerty, affirmed that the company is proud to cooperate with the initiatives and programmes of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa.
