Theatre fest a big step towards Bahraini youth empowerment
Manama : Khalid Bin Hamad Theatres Festival for National Clubs, Youth Centres and People with Disability represents a noble gesture and an important step towards empowering Bahraini youth, said renowned Bahraini Actress Salwa Bakhit.
Bakhit, well known for her role in “Um Hilal” made the comments during her visit to the festival held at Muharraq Model Youth Centre in Busaiteen. The highlight of the day was the play “First Degree Retiree” performed by Al-Wusta Youth Centre.
Expressing her admiration of the entertaining performances of the youth centres and clubs, she said, “Including people with disabilities in the festival is a noble gesture.”
Veteran actors such as Abdulla Malik and Saad Al-Buainain as well as officials including Khalid Al-Haj, Assistant Undersecretary for Sports Affairs and Facilities at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs, Rashid Abdulateef Al-Zayani, Director of Planning, Policies and Follow Up in the ministry and Tariq Al-Arabi, Director of Clubs Affairs in the ministry were present on the occasion.
The next play at the festival is “Document of Silence”. Directed by Lamya Al-Showaikh, the play will be performed by Barbar Cultural and Sports Club team on Wednesday.
The festival is annually held as part of Khalid Bin Hamad Al-Khalifa initiatives to empower Bahraini youth in the fields of arts, culture and humanitarian works. This year’s edition is themed #Let’s_Plant_A_Smile.
It is worth mentioning that the festival was launched on October 4 by Hisham bin Mohammed Al-Jowder, the Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs, on behalf of Shaikh Khalid. The shows will continue until 21st of this month.
Adhari Park Bronze sponsor of festival
Adhari Park has announced its backing to the third edition of Khalid Bin Hamad Theatres Festival for National Clubs, Youth Centres and People with Disability as Bronze sponsor.
Held under the patronage of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and Honorary President of Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities, the festival is being held at Muharraq Model Youth Centre in Busaiteen.
Shaikh Khalid welcomed the sponsorship and said that the support reflects Adhari Park’s interest and concern in empowering and developing the youth of Bahrain.
Khayyam Ali Salim, Head of Adhari Park, said that the company’s sponsorship comes within its responsibilities to achieve community partnership by supporting youth, sports, cultural and social programmes in Bahrain.
