Theatre festival closing ceremony today in Bahrain
Manama : The closing ceremony of the third edition of Khalid Bin Hamad Theatres Festival For National Clubs, Youth Centres and People With Disability will be held today at Muharraq Model Youth Centre in Busaiteen.
The event will be held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and Honorary President of Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities.
His Highness thanked Hisham bin Mohammed Al-Jowder, the Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs, the Media Office of His Highness and the organising teams for the remarkable success achieved by the festival.
Participating teams, sponsors and notable personalities in the Bahraini art and cultural movement will be honoured during the ceremony.
“The Auspicious Visit” directed by Abdulrahman Bucheery and performed by National Foundation for the Services of People With Disabilities was the final show of the festival.
The Jury awarded Mohammed Darraj as the best actor in the play.
Twelve plays, as well as three additional shows, were performed during the 18-day festival held with the participation of national clubs and youth centres.
This year’s festival was held under the slogan #Let’s_Plant_A_Smile.
“This is a noble gesture and an important step towards empowering this important category of the Bahraini community,” said renowned Bahraini Actor Abdulla Waleed. Several celebrities, renowned actors, critics and top-ranking officials visited the festival and expressed their admiration of the entertaining performances by youth centres and clubs during the festival.
The festival is held annually as part of Khalid Bin Hamad Al-Khalifa initiatives to empower Bahraini youth and to ensure their participation in the fields of arts and culture and humanitarian works.
