A march for the blind held in Bahrain

ManamaA march was held yesterday under the patronage of Sheikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Governor of the Capital Governorate, at the Marina Cornish supporting the Society for the Blind. 

The march that was organised for the fourth year in a row by the Capital Governorate and the Friendship Society for the Blind was held under the slogan: “Supporting the Society for the Blind.”

The event was attended by a large number of civil society organizations, communities and families.

“The governorate pays special attention to people with special needs from a humanitarian and societal point of view. This shows their constant commitment to supporting and caring for people with special needs and activating their role and integrating them into society as an integral part of it,” said Sheikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Governor of the Capital Governorate.

“The support of society for people with special needs has a key role in raising the level of determination and help them to achieve their aspirations, stressing that the disabled man is the one who is incapable of the mind and not the body,” he said.

“Over the past years, the march with the blind has witnessed wider participation from different groups of Bahraini society amidst a wonderful community atmosphere and effectiveness to support and raise awareness for the people of special needs in general and the blind in particular,” he added.
