Growth of MMA is beyond impressive

Manama : Former EFC middleweight champion, Jeremy Smith praised initiatives of Bahrain to promote the sport of Mixed Martial Arts. The South African fighter will be arriving in Bahrain to take part in Brave 9 on November 17, where he will fight against Ikram Aliskerov from Russia. Jeremy competes in the middleweight division and had previously competed in the Brave event hosted by Brazil in Curitiba.

Jeremy has returned to the sport after a life threatening car accident due to which he had to take a break from the sport. This will be for the first time the South African athlete competing in Bahrain. Jeremy is a former EFC middleweight champion and had an unprecedented 11 fight-winning streak. Trained at the American top team, he has won fight of the night three times. Ikram Aliskerov has an unbeaten record winning all his four fights in his career. The athlete from Russia is a highly proficient wrestler and a well adept striker.

“Bahrain has captured global attention and is one of the best locations for athletes who wish to find opportunities in the sport of MMA. Earlier, amateur MMA team of Bahrain had visited South Africa for the IMMAF African Open Championships and secured medals. The development of the sport was progressive and had changed the life of athletes through a systematic approach. It will be a great opportunity to fight in Bahrain. The growth of the sport in the island nation is beyond impressive and is an example for nations to follow. I am sure that fans of South Africa will be overwhelmed to see me back in the cage. I will bring my best game and will secure my victory in Bahrain,” said Jeremy Smith.
