Government committed to boosting sports sector: Bahrain CP

Manama : His Royal Highness, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, yesterday reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment to providing “modern sports facilities’ to help nurture sporting talents in the Kingdom. 

“Bahrain is committed to providing athletes with the support they deserve,” said Prince Salman stressing that the Kingdom will work hard to “deliver opportunities to its young people”.

His Royal Highness was receiving Lord Sebastian Coe, President of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) at Gudaibiya Palace. Lord Coe is visiting the Kingdom to attend the IAAF Gender Leadership Taskforce meeting.

Highlighting the achievements made by the Kingdom in several international tournaments including Olympics, Prince Salman said, “The exceptional talent and dedication of the Kingdom’s youth had made the entire nation proud.”

HRH Prince Salman further stressed the role played by Bahraini youth in accelerating sustainable development. 

The Crown Prince also praised the positive impact of women in the sport and youth sector, in particular, the role of the Supreme Council for Women led by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the SCW.

In this regard, the Crown Prince emphasised the role sportsmanship plays in promoting integrity and fairness stressing that these characteristics extend throughout the wider initiatives that increase Bahrain’s competitiveness.
