Lending a ‘green’ hand

Manama : After reaping huge success in its first edition, the Rotary Club of Sulmaniya has launched its ‘Green House Project’, for kids with special needs, for the second year running at Hawarat A’ali Agricultural Development Centre.

Commenting on the project which started last year, R. Hassan Mansoor, Community Service Director of the Rotary Club of Sulmaniya year 2017-2018 said, “From planting seeds to selling the produce, all the process involved were handled by the kids with special needs.”

“This project is not a just charitable project but also vocational one, where we provide the kids with a new learning experience.”

“The proceeds will go to these societies,” he said.

The Project,  launched with the participation of Al Rahma Center for Youth Care and Bahrain Association for Parents and Friends of the Disabled, aims at involving kids with special needs in the entire agricultural process starting with planting seeds, harvesting the crops and finally selling the produce at the Bahrain Farmers Market in December.

The Project, Mansoor said, was also featured in the “The Rotarian Magazine”.
