BIPEX opens doors to Bahrain’s reality

Manama : Over a hundred real estate projects were highlighted at the Bahrain International Property Exhibition (BIPEX) which opened yesterday attracting a huge crowd at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre.

The exhibition, now in its 10th edition, kicked off with the participation of over 60 exhibitors and thousands of visitors.

BIPEX, launched in 2004, focuses on the development of the real estate sector and helps local, regional and international real estate firms form partnerships.

“Local, regional exhibitors, as well as exhibitors from around the world are here,” Masoud Al Hermi, President of the Bahrain Society of Engineers told DT News.

“The quality of the projects is superior this time,” he said adding that this year the expo will witness more footfalls.

The three-day event, which continues until Saturday, was inaugurated by Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, the Deputy Prime Minister.

Al Hermi told DT News that BIPEX this year enjoys more exhibitors. “We have exhibitors from Dubai, Pakistan and Cyprus.”

“This is giving us a momentum to go further next time,” he said. “We aim for a much bigger expo next
time.”

BIPEX, in its 2016 edition, highlighted real estate assets worth US$60 billion, as compared with the figure of US$52 billion in its previous edition. The show, according to the official record, attracted 8000 plus unique registered visitors over three days, 24 percent of which were from outside Bahrain.

The highlight of the 2017 edition will be the return of ‘industry forums’, which according to BIPEX will act as a platform for real estate insiders to discuss, debate and explore topics related to real estate industry.

The real estate sector, Al Hermi said, is fast improving, thanks to the legislative backbone of the industry. “The industry just needs to come together and have an opportunity to communicate and form partnerships, and that is what this exhibition provides.”

Commenting on the expo, Head of Marketing at Bin Faqeeh Real Estate Investment Company Ahmed Khalfan said, “We are very pleased with the launch of the exhibition today.”

“What we have offered in this expo is the Layan project which we are pushing very hard in the market, he said adding: “We are very excited about the unique aspects of it.”

Regional manager of Expo Leader, a company from Cyprus, Abdel Rahman Abdel Latif  said, “We want to place Cyprus at the forefront of the investment market.”

“Our goal is to bring together major developers in the region and showcase their portfolios in the Middle East for potential buyers,” he said explaining the opportunities and privileges provided by Cyprus to real estate investors.

“BIPEX will help us achieve this goal and we are positive we will get the push needed.”
