Airport expansion to boost economy, HRH CP
Manama : The expansion of Bahrain International Airport will enhance Kingdom’s economy by boosting growth in tourism and local aviation sectors, said His Royal Highness, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, yesterday.
The project, one of the largest infrastructure projects in the Kingdom, is set to provide a three-fold increase in the capacity of the Bahrain International Airport.
Reviewing the progress of the project, Prince Salman said that the “project will support Bahrain’s strong position in the transport and logistics sector”.
The sector, Prince Salman said, already is highly competitive by offering lower costs, stronger human capital and robust regulatory environment.
To prepare for the operations of the new passenger terminal, Prince Salman said, a committee will be formed headed by His Excellency, the Minister of Transport and Telecommunications.
Prince Salman also stressed the need to integrate jobs for young Bahrainis into the project’s development.
HRH the Crown Prince was accompanied on the visit by His Highness, Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, the Deputy Prime Minister, and His Excellency, Shaikh Khaled bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, the Deputy Prime Minister.
