Bahrain Foreign Ministry gets first woman Undersecretary
Manama : Dr Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa has become the first women Undersecretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Dr Shaikha has been working as Assistant Under-Secretary for Arab and Afro-Asian Affairs and Organisations in the Foreign Ministry since April 2011.
Her appointment as Foreign Affairs Ministry Undersecretary follows a Royal Decree (63) issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa yesterday.
Dr Shaikha has participated in several of bilateral and multilateral meetings at the United Nations and various international organizations especially the Asian Cooperation Forum, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Arab League and the Gulf Cooperation Council including meetings between the Asean and Gulf Cooperation Council.
Dr Shaikha completed her Master of Arts in Peace and Conflict Resolution from the American University in Washington DC in 1998.
She has a doctorate in International Law from the University of Exeter.
Dr Shaikha is a member of the Supreme Council for Women since 2016 and the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons since 2015.
The Royal Decree 63 issued yesterday also appointed Tawfik Ahmed Khalil Al-Mansoor as Assistant Undersecretary for Western Countries and Afro-Asian Affairs, and Yussef Mohammed Abdulla Jameel as Assistant Undersecretary for GCC and Arab Countries’ Affairs at the Foreign Ministry.
Both Tawfik Ahmed Khalil Al-Mansoor and Yussef Mohammed were also appointed by His Majesty the King Under the same Royal decree 63 issued yesterday.
