GAA installs A320 flight simulator

Manama : The Gulf Aviation Academy’s (GAA) made a big leap ahead in its pilot training capabilities, thanks to the newly installed A320 Full Flight Simulator (FFS), said Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and GFG Chairman, Kamal Ahmed.

“This simulator will play an important role in pilot training, which is a major part of our efforts to modernise Bahrain’s aviation industry in line with the Kingdom’s objectives for Economic Vision 2030,” said the minister.

The minister was experiencing a demonstration of the new state-of-the-art simulator in action, during a visit to the academy as part of a delegation constitution Gulf Air Group’s (GFG) Board of Directors.

“The addition of this modern equipment also helps to maintain GAA’s position as one of the foremost aviation training institutions in the region,” the minister added.

The device is currently fully operational and has undergone many audits from different regulatory bodies in order for international clients to commence training.

The most recent addition to the academy was manufactured by Tru Simulation + training, a Canadian based company that provides flight simulator and training for the civil and military market.

The new equipment adds to GAA’s current simulator capacities, which include A330, A320 and Emb 170 flight simulators. TRU will also deliver an upgrade of their software packages to the new simulator, the A320neo 2.0, upon release from Airbus, the aircraft manufacturer.

GAA Chief Executive Officer, Capt. Dhaffer Al Abbasi said: “The A320 FFS TRU Simulation device was selected from the best suppliers in the industry and they fully comply with international standards and requirements of the regulatory authorities.”
