TRA awarded for Nationalisation initiative in GCC

ManamaTelecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) Bahrain was announced the winner of the “Best Nationalisation Initiative in the GCC” at the 2017 GCC GOV HR Summit in Abu Dhabi.

The Summit, which was held at the Emirates Palace Hotel on October 31, brought together over 250 C-level executives and senior HR professionals from the government sectors and state owned entities of the region in what is regarded as the Middle East’ foremost event dedicated to redefining the human capital function in public sector organizations in the last five years. 

TRA Bahrain won this award on the basis of implementing innovative policies and procedures towards recruiting national talent with a vision and equal focus of building a focused talent pool to cater to industry requirement.

Receiving the Award, TRA Director of Finance, IT and Human Resources, Faisal Al Jalahma said, “It’s an honour to be considered for this prestigious award, which reflects the TRA’s steadfast commitment to empowering and enabling the best and brightest local talent.” 

He added that, “As an entity it gives us pride to be chosen amidst the many hardworking public organizations across the Gulf. TRA stands by and follows the vision of our nation’s leaders who believe wholeheartedly in the capability of Bahrainis to take the initiative as a diligent and talented workforce.” 

The GCC GOV HR Award winners were determined by an international panel of judges with expertise in the field of human resources.

The employment policy has changed drastically since 2012, where expats made up 70pc of the TRA’s workforce and held key positions, whereas today, key positions are held by Bahrainis and they make up an 80% majority.
