Expat medical check-up fee fixed at BD20

ManamaThe authorities have fixed a fee of BD20 for medical check-up of expatriate workers at specified private healthcare centres in the Kingdom, DT News has learnt. Health Minister Faeqa Al Saleh issued Resolution 30 of 2017 to this effect, regulating the medical check-up of expatriate workers.

The minister’s resolution follows the Cabinet’s approval on Monday to privatise the check-ups.

In the resolution it was mentioned that “the employer is granted the liberty to choose any of the private healthcare centres that are authorised and specified by Health Ministry and Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) after the fee is paid”. The ministry has announced that it discussed the plan with the LMRA, the National Health Regulatory Authority and the Information and e-Government Authority as part of efforts to streamline procedures. It was also included in the resolution that “healthcare institutions wishing to provide the medical examination service for expatriates shall apply to the Authority for permission to add the activity to their list of services, in accordance with approved standards and conditions of medical check-ups that are set by the ministry”.

The conditions include that the institutions must be linked through the IGA services, maintain an electronic IGA record and an electronic documentation mechanism of patients’ data and health condition.
