Bahrain King’s inter-faith initiatives lauded
Manama : Board of Trustees Deputy Chairman and Executive Director of Isa Cultural Centre Dr. Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa stressed that the two initiatives, “The Kingdom of Bahrain Declaration” and The King Hamad Global Centre for Inter-Faith Dialogue and Peaceful Co-Existence, are a boost to the Bahraini people’s status as ambassadors of religious tolerance and peaceful co-existence.
He highlighted Bahrain’s history in this respect and contributions of the Al Khalifa rulers and the people to paving the way of all the civilisational accomplishments.
In a lecture organised by “This Is Bahrain” society, in cooperation with Isa Cultural Centre and with the participation of 300 secondary level students, Dr. Shaikh Khalid affirmed that the royal reform project and the National Action Charter underlined that freedom and equality between citizens before the law in rights and duties are guaranteed by the constitution, being main pillars of social stability.
He added that His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has always backed religious tolerance and peaceful co-existence through many initiatives since 2001, the prominent being “The Kingdom of Bahrain Declaration” and The King Hamad Global Centre for Inter-Faith Dialogue and Peaceful Co-Existence in Los Angeles.
He also pointed out Bahrain’s hosting of many functions over the past years to promote those noble values.
Dr. Shaikh Khalid spotlighted the content of “The Kingdom of Bahrain Declaration”, describing it as an international document and a humanitarian message to foster religious freedom and tolerance and peaceful co-existence.
He also pointed out the efforts made to eliminate all forms of hatred and extremism.
