Algerian official to fight in Brave
Manama : Brave Combat Federation has set new milestones as it expands the horizon for the sport of Mixed Martial Arts in the region. Tahar Hadbi has one among the most unusual jobs that one can think about to relate for a Mixed Martial Artist. Hadbi works in the Consulate General of Algeria as administrative agent in the field of accounting. A resident of France, Hadbi has graduated in wealth management, banking and insurance. He will be competing at the welterweight division against Mohammed Fakhreddine on November 17 at Brave 9: The Kingdom of Champions.
According to Hadbi, “To fight is a part of our life. We fight for our dreams and for those we love the most. I was living in Algeria with all my family, but my parents had to separate to keep me and my 3 sisters safe because of a civil war in Algeria. So my dad had to stay alone in Algeria whereas me, my mom and my 3 sisters had to go to France for a better life. We lived in my grandparents’ house with all my uncles and aunts, it was funny and after few years my dad came and we went to Canada for 4 years and then we came back to Paris. Mixed Martial Arts improved my focus and the passion had towards my profession and life. Martial arts indeed benefit the youth by giving them a direction and discipline.”
Tahar made a memorable debut when he replaced an injured teammate in 10 days’ notice to knockout his opponent in 14 seconds. About his upcoming fight Hadbi is confident about his chances, “Fakhreddine had opportunities gifted to him which he doesn’t value. I always fought for what I value, that makes the difference. This November 17, I will fight and earn what I deserve and my opponent doesn’t stand a chance.”
Popularity of the sport is soaring in Algeria with more fighters following the footsteps of Hadbi and Boudegzdame. Algeria had been supportive towards the initiatives of the Kingdom of Bahrain to popularize the sport. El Hadi Ould Ali, Minister of Sports in Algeria had honoured Brave Combat Federation Featherweight champion, Elias Boudegzdame on two different occasions and even had gifted him a customized national jersey for his upcoming title defence.
