October hottest month recorded since 1902 in Bahrain
Manama : The Meteorological Directorate said in its monthly weather summary that the month of October 2017 goes on record as the hottest October ever experienced in Bahrain since 1902.
The mean temperature of the month was 31.1 C which is 1.9 C above the long-term normal and goes on record as the second highest mean monthly temperature for October since 1902 which was only exceeded by October 2015 with a record of 31.7 C. The mean maximum temperature of the month was 35.0 C which is 1.9 C above the long-term normal and goes on record as the seventh highest mean maximum temperatures for the month of October since 1946 which was exceeded by October 2004 with a record of 36.3 C, October 2006 at 35.6 C, October 1965 and 2015 at 35.4 C, October 1986 and 2003 at 35.3 C, October 2002 at 35.2 C, and October 2001 at 35.1 C.
The highest temperature during the month was 38.3 C which was recorded on the 5th of October at Bahrain International Airport and t39.9 C on the 10th of October at Durrat Al Bahrain.
During the month, Bahrain had 16 days with maximum temperatures exceeding 35 C.
The mean minimum temperature of the month was 27.6 C which is 2.1 C above the long-term normal and goes on record as the fourth highest mean minimum temperature for October since 1946 which was exceeded by October 2015 with a record of 28.9 C, October 2014 at 28.2 C, and October 2010 at 27.8 C.
The lowest temperature was 25.1 C which was recorded on the 30th of October at Bahrain International Airport but recorded 21.8 C on the 24th of October at Durrat Al Bahrain.
The mean relative humidity for October was 61 per cent whereas the mean maximum relative humidity was 78 per cent and the mean minimum relative humidity was 40 per cent.
No precipitation was reported during the month where the long-term average precipitation for the month of October is 0.5 mm.
