Girl abducted, released
Manama : A 22-year-old man who allegedly kidnapped an eight-year-old girl has been charged by the police for the crime.
The man abducted the young girl while she was standing in-front of her home in Budaiya along with her friend. Police were soon alerted by her father and a team of officers were tasked to follow up investigations. The man reportedly bought the girl new clothes and asked her to change into them.
According to details revealed by the Ministry of Interior in its publication Al Amn, fingernail scratches were found on the girls left hand and right thigh. The girl was reportedly blindfolded and hit when she protested.
The abductor later became worried and sent her back to her parents with the help of a friend. Head of investigation at the Northern Governerate Police Directorate Captain Turki Al Majid said that a CCTV footage had captured the man’s red vehicle.
“A search team was formed to collect all evidence and investigate the incident. The team began searching all red vehicles and all those who were driving such vehicles were questioned. The traffic department was contacted to get details of all similar vehicles that met all its specifications and distinctive signs,” he said. Officers realized that the vehicle was rented from a rental company.
“It was then easy to get the contact details, including phone number and the address, of the person who had hired the vehicle,” he added
The suspect initially denied any wrong doing but later confessed to the kidnap. He said that he was under the influence of drugs at the time of the crime. He added that he asked the girl to change her clothes as the clothes she was wearing had his fingerprints on them. A friend of the suspect dropped the girl near her home. As she walked back home she was found by her father and a group of people who was searching for her.
