Filipino expatriate to get justice at last
Manama : Jeny Agbulig, an expatriate from the Philippines, whose passport was confiscated and visa cancelled by her sponsor, will soon get her passport.
According to Jenny, who worked for Transport Offshore Reclamation as a staff cleaner and a caterer assistant, the sponsor confiscated her passport and refused to give it back until she paid him the ransom he demanded.
“After a long period, I will receive my salary and passport in a few days. An official has asked me to get the CPR number of the sponsor so that legal action can be taken against the sponsor for violating the law,” Jenny told DT News.
“These past months have been extremely difficult for me as I was not able to secure any work. A few sponsors were ready to hire me. Since I did not have my passport, the employers refused to take me,” she said.
“Further, I had to leave my apartment and relocate somewhere else for safety reasons. My sponsor and his driver used to roam around my apartment in their cars during night to terrorise me. There were occasions when the driver even came up to my apartment and banged the door. I was terrified and after that I moved out of the place,” she said.
DT News had previously reported the incident with exclusive footage of the sponsor threatening Jenny.
