Gulf Air appoints new Chief Business Development Officer

Manama : Gulf Air Group (GFG) announced the appointment of Mohamed Khalil Ahmed as its new Chief Business Development Officer, tasked with further expanding its reach and portfolio. He will also be identifying investment opportunities and leveraging synergies between the group’s subsidiaries to create value and improved income streams.

Ahmed previously worked for five years as Chief Commercial Officer at Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), the manager and operator of the Bahrain International Airport (BIA). He has also held senior positions at GFH Properties, Al Khaleej Development Company (Tameer), First Gulf Real Estate Co (KSA), and Technal Middle East. He has served on a number of boards, including those of Bahrain Airport Company Jet Fuel Company, Tamcon Contracting, and Bahrain Investment Wharf (BIW) Labour Accommodation, among others.

Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and GFG Chairman, Kamal Ahmed, said: “Mohammed will be an important asset to GFG, and his wide set of skills will be utilised to their fullest extent in this challenging new role. His experience in the aviation field, as well as his broader business background, will help us to grow by tapping into new sources of revenue.”

Ahmed holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering from the University of Bahrain and an IATA Diploma in Airport Strategic Management, in addition to being a Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) from the National Association of Realtors in the US.
